NAPHU
SCHOOL FOR
THE ELDERLY
Naphu School For The Elderly is a story about a school in Udonthani, Thailand where the age of students starts at 60. Discovering their secret of longevity and happiness.
PASSWORD: happiness
Selected to be display in Creative Unions exhibition as part of London Design Festival 2018

FACTS
By 2050 it is predicted that the world population of adults age 65 and over will double to almost 90 million.
Loneliness is not only harmful to people mentally. Lack of social connection can create negative health impact as bad as smoking 15 cigarettes a day. ( Age UK)
My interest in this topic began when I realised the fact that people now a day live longer but that does not necessarily mean people live happier. Digging deeper into the topic I found that the problem of social isolation and loneliness is a rising problem especially amongst elderly people.
I came across this school in my research and decided to go over to see their secret of happiness. What I experience there was incredible and I want to give audience the same feeling through this film.
IMPACT
Even though it's still a work in progress, I find the impact of this project very positive. My participant Shirley and I become good friends and we meet up regularly not only to discuss the project but for coffee, yoga and recently went to pride together!
THE TIME
IN BETWEEN
The Time In Between is a project aiming to re-connect different generations together through the art of filmmaking.
I began this project with a hypothesis that one of the way to solve the problem of loneliness and social isolation is to re-connect different generations together.
From research I found that today more and more of the older population starts coming online. However, even in the online community there is no space for two generations to meet.
I personally find filmmaking such a fun and engaging activity to bond with people and it's something that can bring people with multiple interest together for example writing, camera, acting etc. so I think it can be a good link between generations.
This project is still a work in progress. Right now my participant and I are planning to shoot the film about Vampire actress!
CRY-OKE
IT'S OK TO CRY
Cry-Oke is a Karaoke machine made for students to relieve stress. This project come from an observation that there is a lack of facilities in the university building that would help students cope with stress. In this project we researched into how crying out loud can be a way to relieve stress combined with the internet culture of memes and it's therapeutic effect when people see gifs or pictures that can represent their emotions. We transfer these qualities into an interactive experience for students.
